What is Stone Therapy?

Stone Therapy Massage is a truly relaxing treatment using stones of varying sizes and temperatures on different parts of the body. Stone Therapy combines Aromatherapy with the warmth and balancing energies of hot and cool basalt stones. Stones are placed on or used to massage the body with soft gliding strokes using relaxing aromatic oils. Leaves you feeling in a blissful state of deep relaxation.

What are the benefits?

The body strives to maintain a constant normal body temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit or 36.6 degrees Celsius. The application of heat and cold using basalt stones causes physiological changes in the body which can have a powerful therapeutic effect. Heat has a sedative effect on the nervous system which allows muscle tissue to soften and relax, it will increase joint mobility, relieve muscle spasms and pain and increase circulation and metabolism. The application of cold stones can be stimulating and invigorating aiding in reducing inflammation and swelling and increasing muscle tone. Combined with essential oils Stone Therapy produces a deep and penetrating state of wellbeing.

What does the treatment involve?

Stone Therapy is available as 60 minute treatments for either the full body, Face, Neck and Shoulder or as a 90 minute combination of the two.   After your consultation, where we will ensure the treatment is safe for you, your therapist will discuss the suitability of both hot and cold stones and design a treatment to suit your needs.

The Stone Therapy Facial Massage  begins with a deep double cleanse to prepare the skin to receive a massage to the face, neck, decolletage and scalp. The massage is completed using the warmth and balancing energies of hot and cold basalt stones and pure essential oils and lasts for one hour.

During treatment towels will be used to ensure your modesty, you’ll be completely covered with towels and only the area being worked on at the time will be uncovered. Enjoy a soothing and relaxing atmosphere with soft lighting and gentle music. All you need to do is relax!
